Swim Practices Practices are at the Brooklyn Middle School pool every weekday from 3-5pm and on Saturdays 7-9am. Saturday practices are optional but are highly encouraged for new team members and those who want more practice. Occasionally practices will end early at 4:30 which will be noted on the Team Calendar.

If there is no school on a weekday, practice may be scheduled in the morning 7-9am or there may be no practice, also noted on the Team Calendar. At practice you will do laps in all the different Swim Strokes, practice Flip-Turns, and do strengthening exercises. If you are not familiar with the swimming techniques we use, there are teammates and coaches that can assist you in developing your skills. Swimmers are also encouraged to visit the TYPES OF RACES page on this website to further their knowledge.

The second half of Fridays are usually reserved for games like Water Polo.

Equipment

You will need a swimsuit, goggles, a towel and a padlock. A locker will be provided to you for the season in the swim locker room. The team uniform jammers (similar to bike shorts) will be ordered early in the season, at a cost of approximately $50.

Other apparel with the Park Center Swim logo (such as warm-up suits and t-shirts) may be offered for purchase during the season.

Meets

Meets are usually held on either Tuesdays or Thursdays during the regular season starting at 6:00pm. Occasionally there will be meets on Saturdays, (e.g. Relay Meet, True Team and Sectionals). The first meet is the Relay Meet on a Saturday, in early December.

It is expected that you have good sportsmanship throughout the season at all meets. We cheer for ALL swimmers regardless of their team.

It doesn’t matter what place you come in, your goal should be to improve your own time. Transportation Transportation is provided to away meets and back to Park Center after the meet.

You will need to arrange for transportation home from Park Center after practice and meets.
