Dive Like a Pirate
Meets There are usually eight regular season meets, of which three are hosted by Park Center. In addition, there will be a Relay Meet held early in the season and the True Team Invitational (also known as The Tournament of Champions) later in the season. Post Season Meets include Junior Varsity Sectionals, Varsity Sectionals and State. We compete division 5AA.
Races
Your Swimmer will know which races they will be swimming before the meet, but substitutions can be made up to the time of the race at the coaches’ discretion.
Swimmers’ times and placement (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) are shown on the scoreboard during and immediately after each race.
Disqualificians (“DQs”)
State High School League sanctioned judges walk up and down each side of the pool during the races to identify any violation of rules. Should a DQ happen the Official will notify the record keeper. A no time (NT) will be recorded for the swimmer/relay team for that race.
Pirates Fan’s
We at Park Center provide quiet for the start of each race and while Divers are performing their dives. The Swimmers need to hear the Official’s instructions and the starting tone. During the race swimmers want to hear the crowd clapping and cheering. (I’ve heard that they can sometimes hear the sound under the water).
Pirate Pride means good sportsmanship by cheering for all the swimmers to do their best, regardless of which team they are on. Even the last swimmer needs to hear the spectator’s and team’s enthusiasm.
ALL swimmers are encouraged to “Finish Strong”
